Hey is a new Seattle-based ad and marketing agency founded by Chris Lloyd and Eric Gutierrez, who joined forces long before Hey. Working together for 8 years at global advertising agency DDB, they began to find themselves having the same thoughts, often simultaneously about evolving the agency business. It was getting weird, so they decided it was a sign they needed to start their own company.
Chris was president of DDB Seattle, a cozy 150-person office of the DDB Worldwide Communications Group. Chris began his career in New York working for several of Madison Avenue's storied advertising agencies, and boy does he have some stories. Thrilling tales of P&G's Olay and Gain, Purina Dog Chow and I Love New York, Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft and a handful of cruise lines — Royal Caribbean, Holland America and Celebrity. In '99 with a brand new baby girl to feed, Chris moved west to Seattle, first to FCB where he was General Manager and then to DDB.
Eric has led work on global brands including McDonald's, The North Face and Energy Star among others. In an earlier life he was an actor. For a time he played a member of a corrupt cult on the soap opera Guiding Light, paving his way for an eventual career shift to advertising. His work has won numerous Cannes Lions, Effies, Clios and the 2006 Emmy Award for best public service advertising. Eric is passionate about building a new creative company equipped to address the head-spinning complexity marketers face today. He's a member of TED, an organization that celebrates world-changing ideas.
